Rosemary Miller was born in Leicester and lives near Guildford, Surrey. She trained in display and exhibition work and became a semi-professional artist in 2000. Besides demonstrating widely in the South East of England, Rosemary ran painting holidays, weekly watercolour classes, courses, and workshops.
Rosemary works predominately in watercolour enjoying its translucency and unpredictability. Her work is full of colour and is inspired by the effect of light and complex patterns of shapes and textures. She also works in oil, pastel, and mixed media.
Rosemary has been painting ‘plein air’ for many years and really enjoys painting outside in the fresh air. In 2016 she was elected the first woman member of the group. Being a ‘Wapper’ has given her the opportunity to paint alongside dedicated, experienced, talented plein air painters and explore new places with a wealth of subject matter.
Besides painting with the group Rosemary enjoys painting a wide variety of subjects including life, landscapes, flowers and still life
In 2005 Rosemary became a full member of the Society of Women Artists and won the Anthony J Lester Art Critic Award 2005 and Rosemary and Co Award 2011 at their annual Mall Gallery exhibitions.
