Paul Alcock, has had a life long love of painting and drawing, attending Southend and Camberwell Schools of Art, where he became interested in working outdoors from direct observation. Taking his inspiration from a wide range of urban, coastal and interior subjects he aims to imbue his paintings with a sense of life and atmosphere, both in and around his home of Southend on Sea, as well as on frequent trips into London and travels further afield.
Paul has exhibited with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, won the Best In Show prize at the Essex Open Exhibition and regularly exhibits his work in Essex galleries. He has been a long standing member of Leigh on Sea art trail and In 2012 was invited to paint live during the BBC’s filming of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee River Pagent.
Paul has appeared on Sky Arts, Landscape Artist of the Year programme where he was a heat winner, reaching the semi finals of the program.
As well as painting, Paul runs art classes for adults and has written occassional articles for the Leisure Painter magazine.
