Paula Mitchell ARSMA

Paula Mitchell ARSMA is a professional, multi-award winning artist with the Federation of British Artists, a member of The Wapping Group of Artists and an Associate of Royal Society of Marine Artists.

As a passionate plein air painter, she captures in oil the light and life in the environment, including urban and landscape scenes.  She has a particular interest in marine and coastal painting, having always lived on the south coast of England.

The practice of painting directly from her surroundings ‘en plein air’ and working directly from the scene in front of her, entirely informs Paula’s work and contributes to the immediacy of her mark making, compositions and interpretation.

With creative flair from a young age, Paula studied art throughout her education, achieving a degree in illustration at Portsmouth University.  Paula worked as a commercial illustrator and graphic designer before becoming a full-time artist.

In 2021, Paula was presented with two society awards at the ‘Royal Society of British Artists’ annual exhibition and was subsequently selected for the ‘Winners: Award Winners 2020-2022’ exhibition at Mall Galleries.  Her work has since been selected regularly by the ‘Society of Women Artists’,  ‘The Royal Society of Marine Artists’ and selected for the annual exhibition of the ‘Royal Institute of Oil Painters’.

In 2025, Paula was incredibly proud to be elected a member of the historic plein air painting group, The Wapping Group of Artists.

Her original oil paintings and prints are held in private collections in the UK and overseas.
